The Eleventh Plan proposes to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education to 15 per cent by 2011-12 which would require an annual increase in enrolment of 8.9 per cent and an appropriate increase in number of institutions of higher learning to meet the target.

REVIVAL OF CLOSED/SICK STEEL PLANTS
The State-wise distribution of Main and Major steel producer plants and small-to-medium scale steel plants is given in Annexure-I and II respectively.
Crude steel production capacity of the country is estimated to reach 124 milliontonnes by the end of the current Five Year Plan.

Death of thirteen tigers have been reported during last three years from the Corbett Tiger Reserve.Five death were reported in 2007, two in 2008 and six were reported in 2009 due to natural and other causes.During 2010 also, two death have been reported so far. Information pertaining to poaching/seizures of wild animals and their body parts, during the last three years, as reported by the State, are at Annexure-I. Action against offenders involved in poaching is taken within the ambit of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and other laws of the land.

The Union Government has already supported seven Centres for Nano Technology in various institutions
within the country. A separate independent institute of Nano Science and Technology is set up at Mohali. The Union Government also proposes to support a Centre for Nano Science and Technology as part of an existing institute in Bangalore.
