Social networking site Facebook announced that it will set up its
office in Hyderabad to support the growing number of users, advertisers and developers in India and globally.
Facebook has seen exponential growth in recent months and has more than eight million active users in India, it said in a statement.

The HRD Minister has announced that the bill for setting up off-campus centres of foreign universities in the country would be introduced in the parliament. It is clear that the Government has not learnt any lesson from its earlier mistake of setting up private deemed 57 universities. Though it was argued that private universities would help improve the quality of education, our experience has been so unsatisfactory that Yash Pal committee has called for a review of the system.

Opening the higher education sector to foreign players has been one of the
main agendas of the UPA Government. The Foreign Education Institutions Bill which was introduced in the
Parliament in 2007 was withdrawn after strong protests from the Left Parties. After assuming office in 2009, Kapil Sibal has declared that getting this bill passed will be one of his topmost priorities.
