Prof. K. Nageshwar is currently Member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council and professor in the Department of Communication & Journalism, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. He won the elections to the Andhra Pradesh legislative Council from Graduates’ Constituency of Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar and Ranga Reddy districts first in 2007 and subsequently in 2009. Contesting as an Independent Candidate, he defeated the candidates belonging to the major political parties. His surprising victory marked a new chapter in the history of contemporary electoral Politics as he trounced several candidates who spent crores of rupees. He stood as an example for those who like to win the elections fighting against money power. “People’s voice prevails over money power”, this is what Prof.K.Nageshwar proved. He has been a strongest advocate of public cause. His powerful articulation of people’s concerns over wide ranging issues earned him enormous respect and admiration. This is precisely the secret of his electoral success.
Prof.K.Nageshwar comments on a wide range of subjects ranging from rural economy to nuclear policy. Earlier, he worked with Indian Express and the Times of India groups. During the last three decades of journalistic experience, he published articles in the leading newspapers/magazines like The Hindu, The Indian Express, Deccan Chronicle, The Pioneer, The Economic Times, Economic and political weekly, Outlook, Frontline, etc. He also commented on various channels like NDTV, CNN-IBN, Headlines today, ZEE NEWS, AAJ TAK etc., on the regional developments. He regularly comments on Telugu channels on wide ranging issues of contemporary nature. His extensive analysis on Telugu News Television is highly respected and appreciated. Prof.K.Nageshwar participated for nearly 12 hours during the two days of live television news analysis of elections. He is also Chairman of the telugu news channel 10TV. He is on the guest faculty of Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (Hyderabad),National Police Academy, National Academy of Administration, Mussorie, Andhra Pradesh Press Academy, Dr MCR Institute of Human Resources Development, AP Academy of Rural Development (APARD) and many journalism schools. He also published in national and international media Journals. He is basically an electronics graduate and later took postgraduate degree in Journalism and a Doctorate in Political Science and extensively commented on contemporary economic issues including live analysis of Union and State Budgets.
He traveled to Maldives in June 2007 to deliver lecture at Maldives Police Service. He also visited USA , Russia. He was earlier the head of the department of Journalism, Osmania University, Hyderabad. He is also serving on the governing council of National Literacy Mission, Andhra Pradesh. He has been on the Legislative Committee on Envirionment, Forest and Wild Life. He also served on the Legislative Committee on Ethics and Sub-ordinate Legislation. He also served on Legislative Standing committees on Home, Revenue, Commercial Taxes, Excise, Disaster Management, Environment, Forest, Wildlife, Science & Technology. He was on the Governing Council of Andhra Pradesh Press Academy. He was also on the Monitoring Committee appointed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh during talks with Naxalites. As a student, he won the Junior Research Fellowship in Journalism at the national level. He won the UGC Career award in Journalism in 1994.
