- About 2.01 lakh houses completed and 4.56 lakh houses in progress as against the mid-term target of 5 lakhs units in progress.

President Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil in her address to the joint session of parliament here yesterday said that the urban sector of our country poses a challenge and presents an opportunity too. The Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission was launched in 2005 to address this challenge and harness the opportunity. Under the mission, projects worth over Rs. One lakh crore have been approved for urban development and welfare of the urban poor.
