The Indian players are now playing on an average for 300 days in a year. This is certainly difficult even for the players with excellent physical fitness. But, the Indian cricket management completely bogged down in the money and the glamour of IPL had little time to plan the cricketing activity for our players. The players who consider the IPL club interests above the national pride can not object to this round the clock cricket.

The Indian cricket team is once again shown the door in the ongoing world cup. The dubious record of the last world cup is set to be repeated. There may be several valid reasons for the ignominious fate at the world cup, but none can rule out the link between the ignoble IPL and its fateful impact on Indian cricket including that of limited over cricket. At the launch of the IPL, the promise was that more IPL would mean more and better international cricket for Indians. But, this promise seems to be a hoax, The IPL has made Indian cricketers richer, but it has certainly made Indian cricket poorer. The poor spectacle of Indian team in West Indies clearly shows this.

The players were exhausted and completely tired after an excruciating IPL season. The Indian team spent the hot summer playing unlimited limited over cricket. Within no time, the team left for world cup. They hardly had enough time to either take rest or practice before they face international cricket. Well, one can argue that it was the case with other countries’ players also. But, such arguments ignore crucial difference here. The players of  other countries were exposed to different climatic conditions while they are playing in India for IPL. On the contrary Indians were playing in the familiar home climate during the IPL season. They had little time to get acclimatized to the different climatic conditions in West Indies.

Infact, the little time they had was not productively utilized. Instead of practicing, the players were busy enjoying. Perhaps, they were still to come out of the cricketainment provided to them by IPL. The IPL gave the Indian players enough money and they least bothered  to play well in the world cup and take pride in representing the nation .The Indian players fail to understand the organic link between their performance in the international cricket and the possible rate they getting the IPL.

The entire IPL team does not consist of all the international standard players. On the contrary, they have to face the best international players in the world cup. Therefore the swift transition from IPL to world cup was not just possible. If this is so with the  Twenty20 world cup, it would be much more so with the ODI world cup next year.
